Biography
In May of 2004 Caleb Scates picked up a guitar for the first time. He started writing almost immediately. The early songs all contained the same three chords, the only ones he knew at the time, and were recorded using a cheap computer microphone. Long hours of playing, writing and recording continued for the next year and a half as steady improvements were made in all areas. In early 2006 Caleb followed friend and bass player Chris McAfee to Ohio where they slowly started setting up a basement studio and practice space. Although Caleb and Chris did find time in '06 to put out an acoustic record 'Free Lunch', Caleb spent most of the year making striking improvements in writing and producing while also learning to play the drums. At the beginning of 2007 on the verge of developing a live set, the boys set out to fill the drummer seat. Not sure of how to accomplish this Caleb decided to make a new demo CD to shop to local drummers. So he set out to record 4 songs to that end. Recording at odd times around his two day jobs, Caleb managed to turn the 4 song demo into a full length album and 'Lo-Fi Audio Circle' was born. The album features a wide range of styles from the indie pop melodies of 'Floored' to the 90's alternative motivated 'Love Underground' closing with the folk inspired 'Good Company'. The album is representative of a young songwriter still searching for his sound. Given the speed at which Caleb works it will not take long. © 2007 Cepheid Star Publishing LLC
