Biography
DAVID ANDREW SMITH
At the age of fourteen, David began writing, performing and recording his own, original music in a small town on the eastern shore of Maryland. While the other teenagers were eating lunch at the school cafeteria, he was busy learning the craft and hammering out new tunes in the marching band’s practice room. By the age of seventeen, he had recorded over thirty of his songs on a friend’s Fostex analog four-track, playing every instrument himself including guitar, bass, percussion, keyboards, vocals and more.
After studying music composition and performance at Salisbury University, David migrated from the small-town atmosphere of his youth to the city of Baltimore, where he has since been pursuing his dream. He now performs four to seven shows a week along the mid-Atlantic region of the US and has gradually been expanding his tours up and down the East Coast, developing a strong fan base and attracting attention from many professionals in the music industry.
With his addictive melodies, a soulful vocal style and an off-the-beaten-path kind of pop-sensibility, David is quickly gaining formidable momentum towards becoming a major national act. He has shared the stage with My Chemical Romance, The Used, The Bouncing Souls, Thrice, The Pietasters and The Heartless Bastards. Having previously been the front man for the Maryland-based bands Plan B, Truesetto and The Making, he is now making his solo debut with the April 2008 release of his EP, “Sweet, Sweet Nothing,” mixed by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, HIM).
