Biography
Blues/Alternative driven by power-house vocals from singer-songwriter Sue. It's Janis Joplin meets Carole King.
Sue Menhart has been the lead singer and guitar player for many cover bands in the Connecticut and Rhode Island area, with a strong presence in Misquammicut Beach and Westerly. Her style has been compared to Bonnie Raitt, Janice Joplin, Pink, Pat Benatar, and Bonnie Bramlett. Always one to keep her day-job, her dissatisfaction with working as a computer analyst in the corporate world prompted her to decide one day in late 2007 that she was going to do something about it. A long-time Bruce Springsteen fan, she began studying his songwriting from a technical point of view, and searched her own soul. She started writing songs every day before going to work, got a band together, and recorded the songs at the InphazeAudio studio in Griswold, Connecticut, essentially a farmhouse on 20 acres in the middle of nowhere. The resulting debut album, "Torn", with the Sue Menhart Band, was released in May, 2008.
