When music is in your blood, you'll find a way to play it. When passionate musicians taste that jubilant, invincible feeling that comes with jamming, theyll find a place to do it. This is certainly true of JOE TURLEY, a singer, sax, harp and piano man who has been fortunate enough to fashion a career out of playing music since he was 18. Joe has performed from rock to Delta blues to big band to country. His performing career started as a harp player and singer in several rock and blues bands, frequently with songwriter and friend Jeff Silbar (Wind Beneath My Wings). He went on to tour with such notables as Dolly Parton, Leon Russell and Edgar Winter, Margo Smith, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, Shelly West, and the Sweethearts of the Rodeo among others. In the past decade, he has been a familiar face at Opryland USA on the General Jackson Showboat, with Dick Clarks American Bandstand and as a soloist at the Opryland Hotel. Joes television and film credits include Nashville Now, Austin City Limits, Hee Haw, PBS, and on various soundtracks. He has had his songs published with Sony Tree Music, Warner Brothers Music, T.M.I., and ATV Music. He has played concerts for various organizations and at different venues such as Sony Music, Bell South, Rexall, The Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Sisken Foundation, AFLAC, Texaco, Vanderbilt University.and In addition to the piano, saxes and harp, Joe also plays guitar and percussion and is a vocalist and lyricist as well. He is also the bandleader for two bands: Ivory Joe and Midnight Howlers, and Ivory Joe and the Joykings.
