Your music will benefit when you have a beginner’s mind

via Disc Makers Echoes: Think about the first instrument you owned or played. How excited were you just holding it? Think about the excitement you feel when you buy a new pedal or piece of studio gear before you’ve learned to use it. This is beginner’s mind.

I don’t know about you, but I find the world to be a pretty fascinating place. And it’s my firm belief that being interested in things is the first step toward making interesting art and writing interesting songs. It doesn’t really matter what things, as long as you are deeply interested in something. Many of our greatest popular music artists have been inspired by art, literature, film, and (of course) other people’s music. Being interested in something outside of ourselves widens our lens with which to view the world and influences what we give back to it. Click on the link below to read more…
