News: Alabama Department of Tourism Seeks Songs About Alabama

So you think you can write the next "Stars Fell on Alabama" or "Sweet Home Alabama"? If so, the Alabama Department of Tourism wants to hear from you. As part of its Year of Alabama Music campaign, the tourism department is sponsoring a contest to see who can write the best new song about Alabama. The winner will receive $2,000 and a recording session at the FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals. The competition is open to anyone age 19 or older who lives in Alabama or was born in Alabama. The person must be able to write lyrics as well as the accompanying music. Deadline May 20. Website
