News: Bids for Warner Music Suggest Faith in Industry's Future

Could a record company still be a good investment? The bids for the Warner Music Group, one of the four major record companies, suggest that some people think so. At least 10 investors were invited to submit offers in a second round of bidding for the company, a number that surprised analysts and industry executives. "We've been a little surprised by the robust mess of this auction, given the well-chronicled problems of the music industry," said a media analyst at Standard & Poor’s Equity Research.
