By Beeb Ashcroft

A collection of joyful songs delivered with heartfelt passion, The Pat Jones Project With Family And Friends is an album of timeless soul music that is sure to get any gospel lover's hands clapping. Headed by writer and vocalist Pat Jones, The Project brings together an outstanding ensemble of singers who bring a rich tapestry of sound to the album's sixteen tracks. Their voices blend in an amazing choir, while the lead vocalist varies from song to song, bringing a rich, diverse flavor to the album.

The album kicks off with "All Almighty One," an R&B powerhouse that features Pat Jones' emotive vocals. "Love Ye One Another" is a keyboard-driven ballad featuring the voice of Minister Ernest McNair Sr., who sings with conviction and sincerity. The jazzy flavor of "He Walks With Me" is a perfect compliment to lead vocalist Michele Norris' rich delivery. Each singer on this project is extremely gifted it's obvious that they poured their heart and soul into each song, with spirited and emotional delivery.

The CD is in top form on up tempo cuts like "He Is Here" and "Give Thanks." The enthusiastic, soaring performances are filled with optimism and cheer. There are occasional points where the record might possibly benefit from a few technical tweaks, as I sometimes noticed that a few of the instruments didn't sit in the mix quite right. But overall, I thought the album was consistent, lovingly crafted and well done.

Members of The Pat Jones Project lift their voices in praise of their faith, and the message is sure to resonate with lovers of worship music. But whatever your personal convictions may be, you will still enjoy the infectious rhythms and talented performances.
