This has got to be the strangest CD I have ever heard. Normally, this comment might cause an artist to take offense, but Mark Nutter will probably consider it a compliment.

Nutter is able to incorporate his great lounge piano style with some of the funniest lyrics that one could imagine. He pokes fun at all people from old men (“Corny Old Guy”) to successful people (“Success or Sandwich”), from married people (“I Love You [But ... ]”) to gay people (“How Can I Make This Gay?”), and from the intelligent (“My New Invention”) to the religious (“Look at Me, God”). There is no person who is not fair game for Nutter’s wit.

A few of the tunes really reminded me of people that I knew personally. In “Corny Old Guy," Nutter sings from an old man’s point of view, using phrases that an old man would say, including the old “pull my finger” cliché. In “Look at Me, God," I hate to admit it, but I know people who do small things and expect God to answer in selfish ways.

If you are looking for a humorous view of the world, pick up Mark Nutter’s CD. You won’t be disappointed.
